הגפן הישראלית- הגפן העתיקה בעולם?
מקורה של הגפן שלפניכם מענף שנלקח מהגפן המקורית שנמצאה בחולות ראשון לציון, ונשתל בשנות השבעים של המאה העשרים בגינת הוריו של תומר בנגבה. גזעה של הגפן המקורית היה מכוסה ב-15 מטר של חול ובמרחק מה משורשיה נמצאו גתות מהתקופה הביזנטית, הינו לפני כ-1,600 שנה. כשהתברר הפלא הפנטסטי, הגיעו לראות את הגפן גם גיאומורפולוגים, שאמרו שבאזור ראשון לציון תוספת החול בשנים קדומות היתה כס"מ אחד בכל שנה, ידיעה המחזקת את הממצא הנדיר. זמורות מהגפן שבגינת הוריו של תומר בנגבה נשתלו והפכו לשורת הגפנים שבגבעה.
Is the Israeli vine the oldest one in the world?
The vine you see in front of you originates from a branch taken from the original vine found in the sands of Rishon LeZion, which was planted in the 1970s in Tomer's parents’ garden in the Negev. The trunk of the original vine was covered in 15 meters of sand and just a short distance from its roots winepresses were discovered from the Byzantine period, about 1,600 years ago. When this fantastic wonder was revealed, geomorphologists who flocked to see the vine, said that in ancient times the level of the sand in the Rishon LeZion area rose by one centimeter each year, knowledge that reinforces just how rare this discovery is. Twigs from the vine in Tomer's parents’ garden in the Negev were planted and they flourished into the row of vines on the hill.
