נפוצה בנחלי סיני, בנגב המרכזי והדרומי ובערבה. הבדואים בסיני נהגו למכור את השרף המופרש מהשיטה לצורכי רפואת שיניים. במדבר לעת מצוקה, טעיה ורעב היו אוכלים את השרף הסובלים מהפרעות קשות בקיבה.
Twisted acacia in Hebrew – shita slilanit, in Arabic – sial, in ancient Egyptian – shendet.
Commonly found in streams in the Sinai, in the central and southern Negev and the Arava region. The Bedouins in the Sinai used to sell the resin excreted from the twisted acacia, which was used for dental purposes. In the desert, in times of distress, famine, and hunger those suffering from severe stomach disorders would eat the resin.
